Reflections of a Blog

Honestly, when my instructor announced early on that we would have to keep an “online journal” (blog) I believe my palms got sweaty and anxiety set in.  “OH NO...not a technological requirement!!!” That was my initial thought response.

When we met over in the computer room to get our blogs set up, I had already done some of the primary investigation at home because I was still freaking out.  And setting up and designing my page was a bit clunky because I had to keep stopping to ask for help.

However, once everything was in place and I got comfortable with making my way around the webpage, it shifted.  I found the blogging exercises very valuable and this ended up being one of my favorite parts of the class.  So much so, I started another blog!

Simply put, I am happy and grateful to have had the experience!

  1. Haha. Ivy you crack me up! I wouldn't have been able to tell that you are no good with technology, because your pictures & blogs look great. It was great to meet you this year in English 100!

  2. I really enjoyed how honest you are about your first experience with the blog. Haha I must admit I was a bit uneasy about it at first two!

  4. I felt uneasy too Ivy, for a different reason though. I just don't like to share to many thoughts on the Web. Even now, after we almost done with the semester I feel weird blogging about what is in my head for everyone to see. Great reflection.

  5. It was my first blog too, and while I wasn't too stressed about it, it really turned out to be something I enjoyed and will most likely continue into the future. Clearly you got it figured out in no time....look at that fancy background ;)

  6. Nice-this post got a lot of "traffic," 5 comments might be close to the record this semester. It looks like a few students could relate to your early apprehension.

I'm glad you fought through that and your feelings evolved about the blog. You certainly did an outstanding job with it, from the design, format and organization, to the content, grammar and audience interest. I was always engaged and interested when I read your posts, finding new ideas and ways of viewing the material. Thanks for sharing with us and and being open to blogging. It has produced wonderful results in your individual case, and also produced a great sense of community overall in our classroom, as students connected via this forum.

Hopefully you will keep writing in whatever format works for you.
